Libby Says Bush Authorized Leaks

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff has testified that President Bush authorized him to disclose the contents of a highly classified intelligence assessment to the media to defend the Bush administration's decision to go to war with Iraq, according to papers filed in federal court [PDF] on Wednesday by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in the CIA leak case.

Libby testified to a federal grand jury that he had received "approval from the President through the Vice President" to divulge portions of a National Intelligence Estimate.

Lewis "Scooter" Libby testified to a federal grand jury that he had received "approval from the President through the Vice President" to divulge portions of a National Intelligence Estimate regarding Saddam Hussein's purported efforts to develop nuclear weapons, according to the court papers. Libby was said to have testified that such presidential authorization to disclose classified information was "unique in his recollection," the court papers further said.

Libby also testified that an administration lawyer told him that Bush, by authorizing the disclosure of classified information, had in effect declassified the information. Legal experts disagree on whether the president has the authority to declassify information on his own.

The White House had no immediate reaction to the court filing. "

"President Bush must fully disclose his participation in the selective leaking of classified information," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid in a brief statement. "It's time for the President to come clean about his involvement in the leak case."

Problem is, Cheney is on tape stating not only that we are at war, but that we are holding "prisoners of war."

Back on Friday, June 12, 2002, the Defense Department had a big problem: Its new policy on torture of captives in the "war on terror" was about to be exposed. John Walker Lindh, the young Californian captured in Afghanistan in December 2001 and touted by John Ashcroft as an "American Taliban," was scheduled to take the stand the following Monday in an evidence suppression hearing regarding a confession he had signed. There he would tell, under oath, about how he signed the document only after being tortured for days by US soldiers. Federal District Judge T.S. Ellis had already said he was likely to allow Lindh, at trial, to put on the stand military officers and even Guantánamo detainees who were witnesses to or participants in his alleged abuse.

The Defense Department, which we now know had in late 2001 begun a secret, presidentially approved program of torture of Afghan and Al Qaeda captives at Bagram Air Base and other locations, had made it clear to the Justice Department that it wanted the suppression hearing blocked. American torture at that point was still just a troubling rumor, and the Bush Administration clearly wanted to keep it that way. Accordingly, Michael Chertoff, who as head of the Justice Department's criminal division was overseeing all the department's terrorism prosecutions, had his prosecution team offer a deal. All the serious charges against Lindh--terrorism, attempted murder, conspiracy to kill Americans, etc.--would be dropped and he could plead guilty just to the technical charges of "providing assistance" to an "enemy of the U.S." and of "carrying a weapon." Lindh, whose attorneys dreaded his facing trial in one of the most conservative court districts in the country on the first anniversary of 9/11, had to accept a stiff twenty-year sentence, but that was half what he faced if convicted on those two minor charges alone.

But Chertoff went further, according to one of Lindh's attorneys, George Harris. Chertoff (now an appeals court judge in New Jersey) demanded--reportedly at Defense Department insistence, according to what defense attorneys were told--that Lindh sign a statement swearing he had "not been intentionally mistreated" by his US captors and waiving any future right to claim mistreatment or torture. Further, Chertoff attached a "special administrative measure," essentially a gag order, barring Lindh from talking about his experience for the duration of his sentence.

Lindorff shows how Michael Chertoff made a deal with John Walker Lindh to give him a lesser sentence if he remained silent about the torture HE an American was put through.

This was before the Abu Prison scandal came to light. As a result torture that could have been exposed before it happened when unknown.

What happened: Knowing this is a high crime a violation of the 8th Amendment the government suddenly shifted the case to the domestic authorities from the military. And now Bush packed Supreme Court refuses to hear appeals from American "tortured terrorism suspects"

So the real issue, Chertoff violated Federal law, will not be proven.

That is typical of Mr. Chertoff's real role as Homeland Security chief. He's been covering up the truth about Bush, Ascroft etc, That is what he's good at. and writing the Patriot Act, before 911 happened, so that it could be HAMMERED through Congress shortly after 911 happened. There is no way such a repressive bill could have been written in a few days!

Hammer(DeLay), using all his bribery money,and with the urging of his Zionist friends, and his position, got the Republicans to get this Draconian Bill passed, to torture Americans who dared question the policies of the government.

The high ups, Rumsfeld and Cheney kept pushing for war for Afghanistan and Iraq before 911 and even with PNAC got Bush to sign the executive order two days before 911 occurred. They are responsible for the CIA taking prisoners on flights, and torturing them in the air, to secret prisons all over the globe.

Cheny and friends are planning the preemptive attack on Iran now. What is anybody going to do about it?

Back home we now are faced by another threat of this administration. Not only did they lie about the reasons to attack Afghanistan ( real reasons oil and drugs) they are fully behind a guest worker program for 12 to 20 million estimated illegals from the Southern border

You know and I know our high schools are full of students not on grade level, and many will not go to college. The jobs these illegals will take away work for the lower end students,. I am appalled that these racists in Washington, care nothing for the lower working class, who have a right to life, liberty and happiness. And many as I did had to take menial jobs to help pay my way through college. For illegals this is a civil rights issue is beyond belief, since these people are not citizens. Please speak out on this issue Not only will the middle class being asked to foot the bill for illegals we will have to pay social services,education, health and food stamps for America's non achieving and more unemployed citizens.

MIAMI - The deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of

Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday for using the Internet to seduce what he thought was a teenage girl, authorities said.

Brian J. Doyle, 55, was arrested at his residence in Maryland on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Fla.

Doyle, of Silver Spring, Md., had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The girl was an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Computer Crimes detective, the sheriff's office said.

Doyle sent the girl pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, the statement said.

During other online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, that he worked for the Homeland Security Department and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers, the sheriff's office said.

Doyle also sent photos of himself to the girl, but authorities said they were not sexually explicit.

On several occasions, Doyle instructed her to perform a sexual act while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her, investigators said.

Doyle later had a telephone conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the teenager and encouraged her to purchase a web camera to send graphic images of herself to him, the sheriff's office said.

He was booked into Maryland's Montgomery County jail where he was waiting to be extradited to Florida, the sheriff's office said.

There was no immediate response to messages left on Doyle's government-issued cell phone and his e-mail, and he could not be reached by phone at the jail for comment.

Homeland Security press secretary Russ Knocke in Washington said he could not comment on the details of the investigation. "We take these allegations very seriously, and we will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation," Knocke said.

Doyle, who is the fourth-ranking official in the department's public affairs office, was expected to be placed on administrative leave Wednesday morning."

Maybe he was too computer addicted to watch CNN and warn Chertoff what was actually going on at the Convention Center in New Orleans after the leviees broke.

A last-minute, tentative compromise today opened the way for the most sweeping immigration bill in two decades. Along with offering legal status to millions in the country unlawfully, the measure enhances border security and regulates the future flow of immigrants into the country.

"We've had a huge breakthrough" overnight, Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., told reporters.

Frist said President Bush supports the plan.

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., who co-sponsored legislation with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., called the plan "tough and fair."

"The American people have made their voices heard in their churches, in their schools and in the streets and the Senate has listened," Kennedy said, referring to massive protests in recent weeks.

The tentative compromise would require illegal immigrants who have been in the United States between two years and five years to return to their home country briefly, then re-enter as temporary workers. After that, they can begin a process to gain citizenship.

Illegals here longer than five years would not be required to return home. Anybody who came within the past two years would have to leave and take their place in line with others seeking entry, with no assurance they would be accepted.

Tancredo called the Senate "amnesty" deal "miserable public policy that will be rejected by the House of Representatives and has already been rejected by the American people."

"It continues the running joke that is our immigration system by treating the same crimes differently," he said. "In a perverse rendition of hide-and-seek, it grants a reward to those who evaded law enforcement for the longest time. And, as we did in 1986, it will encourage more illegal aliens to come into this country in the hope of yet another amnesty.

The Colorado congressman pointed out that the authors of the deal don't dispute the agreement offers blanket amnesty to at least 10 million illegal aliens who entered the country illegally through 2004.

He chides them, however, for not being honest about what will happen to the additional 2 million who have come to the country since then.

"No illegal alien with half a brain would admit that they came here after 2004," he said. "And how could law enforcement tell?"

The Senate deal would require applicants to prove they have been in the country since 2004, but Tancredo points out many illegal aliens have been using fraudulent documents, which law enforcement has been unable to detect.

"Handing out legal identification to millions of illegal aliens will expose our nation's Achilles' heal more quickly than almost any single action this Congress could take," he said.

Tancredo noted that this morning the International Relations Committee heard from a whistleblower at the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service – the agency that would be charged with screening the 10 million illegal aliens – who documented massive fraud and mismanagement in the agency.

USCIS has a security backlog in the millions, Tancredo pointed out, and, in order to reduce the backlog, is encouraging adjudicators to approve visas in fewer than four minutes.

"It is no secret that two-thirds of foreign-born terrorists operating in the U.S. committed immigration fraud prior to or in conjunction with their terrorist activities," he said. "Piling 10 million more applications on USCIS is suicidal in terms of national security."

In the rush to get an immigration bill out of the Senate, the Bush administration appears willing to cave into the Democrats on the issue of amnesty.

The latest burst of bipartisan enthusiasm came when a strange marriage of Republican Sens. John McCain and Bill Frist joined with Democratic Sens. Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid in proclaiming that only those illegal aliens who are in the United States five years or more will be allowed to stay.

Suddenly, every "undocumented migrant" you ask will claim to have been in the United States five years or more. How is anyone going to prove different? In the thriving market in forged documents, we find in major cities such as Los Angeles and New York, any reasonably enterprising illegal alien should be able to get a Social Security number and produce a driving license for any name it takes to prove they have been in the United States five years or more.

We are witnessing remarkable statements from the likes of Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who said of the recent compromise, "While it admittedly is not perfect, the choice we have to make is whether it is better than no bill, and the choice is decisive." This sounds uncomfortably familiar.

What we are likely to get out of the compromise is new language promising to secure the border, but without building a fence. We're probably going to be sold that electronic sensors are just as good. So why don't we just build an electronic surveillance force? All this is nonsense. We already have good immigration laws on the books that we don't enforce. How long will it take to put the electronic surveillance force in place? How many illegal immigrants will the electronic fence actually prevent from getting into the United States anyway? Will we add enough Border Patrol agents to make sure the electronic fence is working?

Why won't the Senate and President Bush just come clean on what is really going on? Senate Republicans do not have enough votes for a tough enforcement law and the president is not going to push for tough enforcement. Besides, President Bush is basically in favor of amnesty, as long as we can find the right euphemism, such as "guest worker." Certainly, no Republican wants to be accused of offering a "guest illegal" program, even if that's what the "get out of jail free" card after five years here actually means.

Maybe no bill at all would be better. Why is President Bush so determined in his second term to commit political suicide? Conservative Republicans want "guest worker" amnesty and "electronic surveillance" fences no more than they wanted Harriet Miers to be on the Supreme Court.

Probably, what it will take to wake the White House up is the massive defeat in the 2006 congressional elections that is brewing right now. Maybe if enough Republican senators and congressmen bite the dust in November, Karl Rove will realize that courting future "illegal immigrant" voters to expand the Hispanic base of the Republican Party is probably a very costly strategy, especially if in the process the growing conservative majority turns hard against the president.

The immigration bill that is being hammered together will certainly be proclaimed as a "great solution," a "comprehensive bill." In the end, this new immigration bill is not really intended to stop illegal immigration. The bill is just intended to sound like we are going to stop illegal immigration.

In another few years, we will have not 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States, as the administration claims we have now, but maybe 25 million. But, of course, in five years from now, all we have to do is wave the magic wand again, permitting Congress to declare once more that everybody is legal, as long as they have been here five years or more. Why don't we just do this every five years? That should make the problem go away altogether.

April 6, 2006 LATE EDITION After weeks of informed speculation that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was preparing to issue at least one indictment against White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove in the CIA leak matter, well-placed sources have revealed that Rove continues to "cooperate" with the prosecutor in an effort to shield Bush from the ever-widening scandal. This has temporarily delayed new indictments, according to informed sources.

Fitzgerald's decision to use Libby's statement as part of the prosecution's evidence is a sign that the prosecutor has other statements from high-placed White House individuals like Rove that implicate both Cheney and Libby in the leak of a CIA covert agent's name to the media. However, Fitzgerald also has testimony from Libby that places blame on Bush, in addition to information obtained from over 200 e-mails first reported by the White House to have been mistakenly deleted. Some of the e-mails also implicate Bush and Rove.

Potomac scandal fever: Renewed CIA leak scandal blossoms along with the cherry trees

Sources say that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's testimony before a grand jury that President Bush, acting through Vice President Dick Cheney, authorized the leak of a 2003 classified National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) to the New York Times is part of bitter internecine finger pointing between Bush and Karl Rove on one hand and Cheney, Libby, and Cheney's current staff on the other. By directly implicating Bush, Cheney can argue that he was merely carrying out the president's orders and passed instructions to Libby to use his media contacts like Judith Miller of the Times and Matt Cooper of Time to pass along selected portions of the NIE, which stated that aluminum tubes acquired by Iraq were intended for uranium enrichment. However, a one-page executive summary included with the NIE was withheld from the leaked segments because it contained a statement that the State and Energy Departments believed the tubes were for conventional weapons, which turned out to be the case. That information would have undercut the Bush administration's claims that Iraq had reconstituted its nuclear program.

Fitzgerald's court filing states: "According to defendant [Libby], at the time of his conversations with Miller and Cooper, he understood that only three people -- the President, the Vice President, and defendant [Libby] -- knew that the key judgments of the NIE had been declassified. Defendant [Libby] testified in the grand jury that he understood that even in the days following his conversation with Ms. Miller, other key officials -- including Cabinet-level officials -- were not made aware of the earlier declassification even as those officials were pressed to carry out a declassification of the NIE, the report about Wilson's trip [to Niger] and another classified document dated January 24, 2003."

The bottom line is that there is now a severe rift between Bush and Cheney. Rove continues to protect Bush while Libby, who at first provided cover for Cheney, is now willing to let the chips fall where they may. As one source put it, Rove is more than willing to "throw Cheney under the bus to protect the president." There is also the possibility that Libby is cooperating with the prosecutor in return for a reduction in his criminal charges.

Washington insiders who were involved in Watergate and maintain contacts with the current administration report that the situation within the Executive Mansion has never been so tense since Watergate. Even the Clinton impeachment pales in comparison to the current situation they claim.

Department of Homeland Security deputy Press Secretary Brian Doyle, arrested in Maryland for soliciting sex from a Florida undercover detective posing as a 14-year old girl, had company within the department. On October 25, 2005, Tampa-based Homeland Security Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement official Frank Figueroa was arrested at Orlando's Mall at Millenia for exposing himself and masturbating in front of a 16-year old girl in the food court. Figueroa used his federal law enforcement badge in an attempt to avoid arrest. Amazingly, Figueroa had been in charge of the Homeland Security Department's Operation Predator, designed to curb child sexual exploitation and child pornography.

It is clear that as reported yesterday by WMR, the Bush administration and the GOP are chock full of pedophiles, sexual harassers, male prostitutes and their clients, and others who display anything but so-called "family values." Closing down our best source of covert intelligence on WMD in the Middle East by making its covert status public - during a time of war - is akin to revealing troop movements and positions to the enemy - during a time of war.

the president hugely abused his authority and powers, wrongfully, and he stood in front of cameras and reporters and lied about it, willfully, repeatedly. he engaged in a willful conspiracy to go after Joe Wilson for debunking the lie about uranium, and he happily burned down a CIA operative and her operations with a LEAK of information. if there was a declassification, it was certainly not recorded or documented or communicated, and, in all likelihood, was made up after the fact once the Fitzgerald investigation got going.

This same president has deployed the NSA and who knows which other components of the national intelligence apparatus against the American people in direct violation of federal law.

According to Fitzgerald's court paper – Libby disclosed information from the NIE to Judith Miller on July 8, 2003 – ten days earlier.

So, what was the official status of the report for those 10 days? If it was declassified prior to or on July 8, why was it only shared with Judy Miller, and not released "officially" until July 18?

When King George begins to form a thought in his mind about the prospect of declassifying information, even if during sex or while sleeping, the Classified Information in question begins to change status. The more he thinks about it, the less Classified the information becomes.

The instant the thought takes form in his mind and manifests itself to the world in words, even if it occurs while he's alone, say, taking a dump or shaving in the morning, at the very moment that he hears himself say the words: "I think I'll declassify that" - the Classified Information comes flying back into the universe as "Officially Declassified."

The King's minions then run frantically to go through the quaint details of preparing the burdensome documentation necessary to create a good cover story for the media about how and when the information changed form, but really it's just window dressing.

Local Teacher's Run-In With Homeland Security Creates Insecurities

A local school employee said a rough run-in with a couple of

Homeland Security officers has left him with a strong sense of insecurity.

Leander Pickett, a teacher's assistant at Englewood Elementary, said he was manhandled and handcuffed by two plain clothed Homeland Security officers in front of the school Tuesday for no reason at all.

"I would like to treat people the way I would want to be treated, and yesterday I wasn't treated that way," Pickett said.

Pickett has been working at Englewood for two years, and his principal and colleagues told Channel 4 they have never met a harder worker or nicer guy.

"He's well loved by everyone because he's willing to do anything to help children," said the Englewood Elementary Principal Gail Brinson.

However, Tuesday afternoon Pickett's niceness turned to anger, disappointment, and betrayal when, as Pickett was directing bus traffic, he said he was handcuffed and roughed up and humiliated by the very people that were supposed to protect him.

"I walked up to him and said, 'Sir, you need to move.' That's when he said 'I'm a police officer. I'm with Homeland Security ... I'll move it when I want to.' That's when he started grabbing me on my arm," Pickett said.

However, Homeland Security tells a different story.

The department said the only reason the officers were at the school was because they pulled over to look at a map.

The department also said it's looking into what happened, and that Pickett's version is wrong. It claims he was antagonizing the officers.

Several people were outside of the school, watching the incident take place, and those witnesses agree with Pickett's story.

"Mr. Pickett asked the guy blocking the bus loading zone to move, and the guy told him he would move his car when he got ready to move it," said Englewood coach Alton Jackson.

"At that point I intervened and I went up to the gentleman and said, 'Mr. Pickett is an employee here,' and they said that didn't matter," said Englewood media specialist, Terri Dreisonstok.

"'We're with Homeland Security,' and on and on they went, and pretty soon, before you know it, he's handcuffed and slammed against a car," Brinson said. "All the children are watching, they're all upset."

After about 30 minutes, the men released Pickett.

"The part that really upsets me is all these students were watching, and that and it isn't good," Jackson said.

Pickett said he plans to sue.

"You now you hear these stories everyday and say, 'This will never happen to me,' but yesterday it happened to me," Pickett said.

"If this is Homeland Security, I think we ought to be a little afraid," Brinson said.

The central office of Homeland Security contacted Channel 4 about the incident and stated that it considers all allegations seriously and the matter has been referred to a neutral investigative entity.

April 7, 2006 -- Class action lawsuit against AT&T in AT&T-NSA cooperation deal "big" according to NSA insiders. In January, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) sued AT&T for secretly permitting NSA to conduct warrantless "dragnet surveillance" of domestic and international communications, including those of U.S. citizens. EFF's filings in the case include sworn affidavits from retired AT&T technician Mark Klein and former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) communications expert J. Scott Marcus and several internal AT&T technical documents. The Bush Justice Department weighed in on the case and objected to the technical documents being introduced as evidence, claiming they may be classified. The documents have been introduced and remain under court seal by the U.S. Court for the Northern District of California.

NSA sources say that AT&T's participation in the Bush administration's domestic communications surveillance is at the heart of the illegality of the program.

AT&T and NSA: law suit against AT&T may reveal much more about Bush administration law breaking

AT&T's history of cooperating with NSA is a long one. One of the AT&T technical documents may regard how AT&T cooperated by routing long line cables through NSA facilities for wiretapping purposes. In the case of NSA headquarters at Fort Meade, Bell Long Line cables from Washington, DC to New York were run into special NSA intercept centers where certain diplomatic lines, such as those between the Soviet, and later the Russian embassy in Washington and the Russian UN Mission and Consulate in New York were tapped, along with those of other "hostile intelligence" diplomatic missions. The system was code named "Occupier." However, recent revelation from NSA indicate that the tapping of cable and RF spectrum communications has expanded well past Occupier and similar intelligence and counter-intelligence communications targeting systems to include law-abiding American citizens and legal residents.

NSA source are emphatic that NSA's surveillance programs have broken a number of U.S. laws and that the Bush administration, itself, is in violation of the law.

As a historical note, the following was written by this editor about NSA's future surveillance plans in 1994:

Voice and data broke free from their copper wire coaxial restraints and are now being transmitted via satellites, microwave, and fiber optic links; through complex Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDNs) and broadband transport mechanisms; controlled by corporations and other private institutions through Private Branch Exchanges (PBXs); and over cellular telecommunications grids. The Puzzle Palace and its friends at the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies became afraid that technology was overrunning their ability to listen in on communications. And there were even newer, more sophisticated systems being developed that would make communications surveillance ten times more difficult -- satellite switching of communications (an orbiting version of the local telephone exchange building), personal communications services, and personal communications numbers. The last two offerings would permit an individual to be reached on his own telephone number practically anywhere in the world through a complex network comprising all or part of the new technologies but one which would primarily bounce signals off of low earth orbit satellites..

The plan to put the nation’s telecommunications network under constant electronic surveillance could not be accomplished unless manufacturers of telecommunications equipment built their products with an eavesdropping capability. The promoters of digital surveillance thought this could be accomplished by “using a manufacturer’s designed feature which would route identified targeted information to a specific switch where the court-ordered intercept can occur.”

As for the burgeoning national data networks like Compuserve, Prodigy, and the biggest one of them all, INTERNET, the FBI and NSA tele-surveillance experts reasoned that on-line computer hosts, network servers, communications bridges, data routers, and inter-network gateways could be tapped by using pre-existing data monitoring capabilities provided by software tools known as Message Transfer Agents (MTAs) and Network Management Centers. These computer monitoring services could be re-programmed to route particular messages on an ad hoc basis to a government computer to conduct court-ordered surveillance of data communications.

INTERNET monitoring became more important for NSA as various groups that the Agency traditionally monitored: foreign political parties, secessionist movements, human rights organizations, environmental groups, trade unions, and religious sects began using the world-wide grid to communicate with their compatriots and with one another. Not only were these groups using sophisticated forms of encryption like PGP -- "Pretty Good Privacy (PGP)" -- but also anonymous remailers to hide their identities. Of special concern to NSA were reports that Iran’s Shi’ite mullahs had been trained on using the INTERNET to communicate with people around the world from the Iranian religious center at Qom. NSA feared that INTERNET could potentially become an avenue for planning terrorist attacks.

NSA was forced to keep up with this newest form of communications for its various international targets. NSA began using its own connections to the INTERNET to perform network monitoring. Some INTERNET users have also reported the presence of “ghost hosts” on the network. Apparently, these computer systems serve no other purpose than to momentarily capture network traffic, copy it, and quickly relay the data packets without any significant degradation of performance.

During 1994, the Zapatista National Liberation Front, which was fighting Mexican troops over land rights in Mexico’s southern state of Chiapas, began distributing electronic messages on the INTERNET. These messages provided news on the rebellion as well as calls for assistance from supporters around the world. In the past, such guerrilla groups used clandestine radio broadcasts to accomplish the same task. NSA’s web of receivers were successful in not only intercepting the broadcasts for their intelligence value but also in conducting radio direction-finding to pinpoint the location of the broadcasts. NSA would not have this luxury with INTERNET. Through its tangled web of servers and anonymous re-mailers, the originators of such messages could hide in the nebula of cyberspace. NSA required much more control over the systems that comprised INTERNET. One division of NSA’s Collection Group, K2 division -- Global Network Programs -- was dedicated to capturing intelligence from computer networks, especially INTERNET. Divided into five branches, two are specifically targeted against computer networks: K24 (end-to-end systems) and K25 (facsimile and data network systems).
