Twenty-five-year-old Sean Timoney, the son of John Timoney, Miami Police Chief and top cop to stifle FTAA protests, was arrested for trying to purchase 400 pounds of Pot from an undercover officer.

For those unfamiliar with Timoney, he gained notoriety for his toughness at NYPD, and went on to lead the Philly police force into battle against those legally protesting the 2000 Republican National Convention. (More info on Timoney)
Fearing mass protests against the November, 2003 Free Trade Americas Agreement (FTAA) meeting, Miami hired him. His counter-protest measures have gained him international recognition and is called the architect of 'The Miami Model' (Great documentary here.)
So, after all he's done to destroy the civil liberties of law-abiding citizens who oppose the oppressive ideas of Free-Trade, Globalization, and the political party who make it possible, here's some payback:
Twenty-five-year-old Sean Timoney was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Albany Wednesday afternoon. He's accused of trying to buy 400 pounds of marijuana.
Federal agents say they busted Timoney and an associate -- Jae Seu -- in a sting operation set up at a hotel in Rockland County.
Officials say the two men brought a duffle bag filled with $450,000 in cash as partial payment for the drugs.

What an awful human being you are to celebrate the misfortune of others. As a matter a fact, John Timoney has a reptuation for being a very fair and just cop. His young son made a mistake that could now cost him forty years of his life and you want to roll around in his family's suffering like a pig.-Shame on you. Should he not have set up defenses for the city when those protests are so historically destructive and violent? I don't want globalization and I don't like Bush....but I don't destroy property or attack cops. And those who do need to be properly subdued!

The prick who ordered the attack on peaceful protesters on numerous occassions just got it shoved up his ass. Hey John...Hahahahhahhahhahhhaaa! You're the laughing stock of everyone who ever took a rubber bullet or tear gas under your watch. Have a nice life pinhead.

Before people jump to conclusions, you should acknowledge that children of cops are not necessarily authoritarians.
I know nothing about Sean Timoney. Perhaps he is estranged from his father?
I have a friend who is the son of a cop. One of them has a father who is a scumbag "Minutemen". My friend is raising money to go protest the "Minutemen" and is an anarchist. He has not talked to his father in several years.
In related news, "In an article that ran in Esquire magazine in 2000, Timoney detailed his now-26- year-old daughter's long struggle with heroin addiction."

You are most likely lucky enough to not have your family's dirty laundry aired all over the TV and the internet. It is very sad that many of you find enjoyment in the Timoney's hardship.
Sean is a great person who got caught up in a bad decision. We all know that his father is a high profile cop, but, from past published articles, we know that he loves and supports his children and family with the same passion with which he has protected the NYPD, PPD, and MPD.
To all you pigs out there swimming in shit over this family's distress, I say this- Mind your own fucking business.

In response to comments like 'you are a scum bag' and others, I feel I need to respond:
1) Indymedia.org is a place where people of like-minded views (anti-glob, etc.) can come together and air their opinions. Mr. Timoney is a personification of everything indymedia as a community opposes.
2) I have many friends (including my girlfriend) who were directly harmed by Mr. Timoney and his subordinates. I was not at FTAA (Final exams for my final semester.) but I have many loved ones who returned from Miami with bruised legs, arms and faces and plenty of horror stories about being interrogated for walking a public street, being gassed and beaten for expressing their views legally.
My girlfriend attended the legal concert and while leaving peacefully was attacked by police at the direct order of John Timoney.
3) John Timoney is a 'public figure' that means different legal standards apply including the allowance of discussing their personal life in a public forum.
4) 400 lbs of Pot is A LOT of illegal drugs. A-L-O-T.
5) If Mr. Timoney can't raise a family to not traffick drugs and stay off heroine, how can he be competent to run a large police force like Miami?

To zero hundered: If it is fair game to take pleasure in a public offical's personal tragedy than it surely must be fair enough to critique the comments posted on this site and those who post them. Or are anarchists so weak minded that they can't handle being called a "scumbag?" Surely my language was no more harsh or offensive than the language used to describe John Timoney. I'm sorry that your girlfriend was hurt but exactly how much damage have anarchist groups brought upon societies around the world during riots guised as protests. The violence and aggresion of these groups brings the police force out in kind and sometimes innocent people are caught in the flurry. And to be honest while there are many well-spoken, intelligent anarchists the better lot of you are angry, aggressive men posing as intellectuals (all in an attempt to find a vent for your unseemly rage.) ---I just wanted to show that stones can fly freely in either direction.

You are an ignorant asshole with no place to remark on how a parent raises his kids. The mistakes made by Timoney's kids are not a reflection on him as a father, nor as a police figure. Kids will be kids, jerkoff. Mistakes will be made. To compare parenting two children in a small suburbian town to holding a position such as police chief, in a city such as Miami, makes no sense.
And for the record, Sean Timoney is a wonderful person, a great guy who has made a few mistakes. The one without sin cast the first stone.

Amanda: I never said I was an anarchist. I am not an anarchist by any means.
Have protests caused damage? Sure. 1) They feel alienated and... 2) Property damage/violence is the only aspect of the counter-capitalist movement that gets coveragee on mainstream U.S. media. 3) It's damage to property- not violence against people. I see that as a very large distinction. 4) With power comes responsibility. Government-paid workers have the duty to not beat citizens. Anarchists and punks have the right to assemble.
TT: Yes, kids will be kids. Kids raised by good parents often do not traffick 300+ pounds of pot.
I assume you missed the connection- if Mr. Timoney can't maintain order in his family, how could he maintain order in a police force of thousands? That's the point.
I never once insinuated that Sean Timoney wasn't a good guy... I've known many pot dealers and a few traffickers in my life... some were nice guys.
...never said I was without sin. But if I don't belive in your religion, what does that matter to me?
Oh, P.S. how about he gets his police officers to stop shooting children (as young as 6) with tasers? Am I allowed to criticize him on that- because that's pretty bad.
