Emergency Network for Lonko Juana Calfunao

A community leader from the Mapuche ethnic group, and her family, have suffered a campaign of intimidation, including the apparent murder of her uncle and an arson attack on her home. The authorities have apparently taken no action to protect them, and Amnesty International believes their lives are in danger.

Emergency Network for Lonko Juana Calfunao

Juana Calfunao is the political authority of the mapuche community Juan Paillalef, situated in the IX region of Chile, also a founding member of the Ethical committee against torture.
Juana Calfunao has asked the NGO MAPUNDIAL to create an Emergency network for her and her community.

to activate
This emergency network will be activated when there are human rights violations in Juan Paillalef and surrounding mapuche communities.

NGO Mapundial is calling all individuals, political and social groups, ngo's and governments to join this network in case of emergency. To create international pressure to the Chilean military and political authorities.
All e mails , fax and letters should show discontent, worry and demand respect for human rights.
